Oulton Park Action

After and excited first round I was keen to get back out again at one of the most challenging, exciting, and rewarding tracks in the UK, Oulton Park, with massively banked corners and fast flowing, undulating section followed by twisty, tight chicanes. Mixed conditions across the weekend meant that both Friday and Saturday morning was wet, despite the fact that this was the first time I had ridden the Kawasaki ZX-6 in these conditions I was quickly able to get a handle of the heavy power and screaming engine finding it easier to control than I expected. This time on Friday came in handy on Saturday where I was able to qualify 6th in my 600 heat.
Although I struggled in open qualifying, finishing 18, I was able to get a great start and mad overtaking during the race saw me move from 14th on the first lap to 8th at the finish, which was particularly satisfying considering most of the bike I had to pass were 1000cc. An even better start in the 600 race put me in a race long battle for fourth place which after many lap of hard work saw me come out on top which felt incredibly good. Overall it was a great weekend which has left me confident going into the first British Superbike round at Brands Hatch Easter weekend.
